Why it matters
Regulars can’t value rewards they can’t see.
Paper punch cards get lost, and points that live only in the register are invisible to customers. Staff can’t answer “how close am I?” and good customers stop caring.
A visible membership shows points, tier and the next reward at every visit, so returning feels rewarded rather than routine.

Business scenario
A practical day in the business.
Fern & Fig Coffee in Boise, ID replaced paper punch cards with a membership program. Owner Emma Lawson set 1 point per $1 and a free drink at 100 points.
- 7:40 AM — Claire Donovan buys an oat latte and scone; 12 points post to her Gold membership.
- 7:41 AM — The barista sees she has 840 points and offers a free drink. Claire saves it for later.
- 11:15 AM — A wrong order is refunded; the 6 points it earned are reversed automatically.

How do points and rewards stay accurate?
Points are posted from completed sales and reversed when a sale is refunded. Every change is recorded in the member’s ledger.
Can I set tiers and expiry rules?
Yes. You choose tier thresholds, what members earn per dollar, which rewards are available and when points expire.
Do members need to give consent?
Members agree to the program terms when they enroll. Loyalty texts and emails are sent only to members who opted in.
Who should use loyalty and memberships?
Cafés, retailers, salons and wellness studios with customers who visit again and again.
What happens if a reward is redeemed by mistake?
Staff with permission can reverse the redemption. Both the redemption and the reversal stay in the ledger.
Reward the customers who keep coming back.
